Given my obsession with lavender, it was long over due for me to visit the Jersey Lavender Farm. Jumping to the end (which Paul says I love doing sometimes), if you are in Jersey, visiting this charming place is a must. Right from the arrival you feel like you’ve been teleported somewhere to Tuscany or the Mediterranean (well, if you catch the right weather that is).
We went on a rather scorching sunny day and I felt like I was in a fairytale, with the amazing smell of lavender and distilled rosemary filling the air.
You must make sure you attend one of the fascinating talks (there is one in the morning and one in the afternoon) giving you insight into everything lavender… it’s growing, varieties, how it’s distilled, how the products are made…. and you even get a few good tips for some awesome recipes with lavender. And what is even better is that you can taste many of these in the cute Sprigs cafe. I tried Cherry and Lavender pie with Vanilla ice cream and victorian sponge lavender cake (yes, that’s right, double whammy – you know I love my food right) and both were awesome and very moorish :). Afterwards you can share the crumbs with some of the chickens that stroll the farm.
Oh and there are also a few super-awesome swings that I naturally had to try … and yes, it rocked (mental note to myself – have at least two of those in our garden in the future – one for me, the other for everyone else :).
We also couldn’t leave empty handed, and bought a few little treats in the gift shop there including a small lavender plant, some lavender oil, culinary lavender for my martini’s (I was running outand this gorgeous lavender mug which quickly made it to top tree of my favorite mugs.
So check this place out…. you will LOVE it…. http://www.jerseylavender.co.uk/ – and some photos for you below to give you an idea :).
Oh and when you get home you will WANT one of these…
Have a fab weekend
