Why Jersey, Channel Islands is perfect for your destination wedding; or holiday

The lulling sound of the ocean in the background, your gorgeous airy and soft Jenny Packham dress blowing in the wind as you say your “I do” under the warm Hawaiian sun. Then dancing the night away with your family and closest friends under the palms as you sip on your Pina Coladas (I can’t ever say or write this word without the famous song popping into my head 🙂 ).

There probably aren’t that many brides that wouldn’t (at some stage) toy with the idea of a destination wedding. And who could blame them with so many beautiful destinations around the world. Small intimate weddings and elopements are quite the rage right now.

So if you are one of those trendy brides who is considering various destinations for your wedding, make sure the beautiful Jersey, Channel Islands is one of them.

Or just unwind and relax on a beach or enjoy one of the fantastic spas. For the adrenaline seekers you can choose from a wide range of sports from kite surfing, coasteering, surfing, diving, jet ski.

Whatever your heart desires, you can find it here.

Still need convincing? Here are 5 reasons why this lovely British island gem might be the perfect place for you to get married.

1, Simple & easy legal process

For those considering getting married overseas, Jersey is the perfect location as the local law only requires the couple to be resident for 72 hours prior to the wedding (hello extra time on the beach 🙂 ). The whole process is relatively straight forward and you can choose from the typical marriages in church to independent wedding ceremonies on one of the local beaches. Oh and the official language in Jersey (all Channel Islands for that matter) is English ;).

You can find out more information on Jersey wedding law here.

2, Variety of gorgeous back drops

It is amazing, given the size of this cute little island, how many incredible and breathtaking locations there are as a possibility for your wedding and wedding photos backdrop.

Would you like a nice peaceful beach – you will have it, would you prefer a dramatic ocean cliff setting – not a problem, how about a castle, vineyards, small waterfall, manor house, lake or luscious gardens – sure, sure, sure :).

The possibilities are literally endless… with some of the locations being absolutely unique and amazing;  whatever vibe, feel or theme you are going for – anything is possible in Jersey.

3, Photo locations and distance

In view of point 2 above, I have to continue in similar theme – there are plenty of gorgeous locations for your photoshoot, and as the island isn’t more than 14 by 8 km (9 by 5 miles) it’s very easy to get around and visit as many as you like for your photos whether you want gorgeous sunset photos by the lighthouse, picnic in desert like surroundings (sand dunes), or walking hand in hand in a meadow.

4, Convenience – traveling, getting here and getting around

Since Jersey is about 40 minutes flight from London, 4 hour trip on a boat from Poole, Portsmouth or Weymouth and 22.4 km (14 miles ) from France, it is very easy and convenient for everyone to get to (especially your elderly grand parents who are not so keen on a long haul flights anymore). Also hiring car is as easy as pie with your UK driving licence and yes you guessed it they do drive on the same side in Jersey too. And if people are not too keen on driving, there is a reasonable bus system in place also, so really no excuses for anyone to get around.

5, Time zone, language and currency

This one is short and sweet. It’s exactly the same as UK. How convenient is that.

So, what do you think? Does Jersey sound like a good place for your dream day? 🙂
